Graphite packing rings are formed by compressing graphite tape; they contain no fillers or binders, and their purity exceeds 98%. The standard cross-section of the packing ring is square, though it can also be fabricated in wedge or V-shapes for use in high-pressure applications.
Graphite packing rings are suitable for use with highly corrosive media-such as acids, alkalis, and solvents-without contaminating the media itself. They are also utilized in high-pressure valves, plunger pumps, agitators, and other equipment in environments where media contamination must be strictly avoided, such as in the food processing, papermaking, and chemical fiber industries.
Flexible Graphite Packing Rings
1. Flexible graphite packing rings are produced by molding flexible graphite tape or braided flexible graphite packing (gland packing) into rings of various dimensions. These rings exhibit excellent resilience and chemical stability, providing an effective sealing function. They are easy to install and can be used in conjunction with other end rings; flexible graphite rings remain highly stable and reliable even under demanding operating conditions. They are frequently paired with reinforced flexible graphite rings to achieve even more superior sealing results.
2. They are suitable for use with media such as hot water, high-temperature and high-pressure steam, heat exchange fluids, ammonia gas, hydrogen gas, organic solvents, hydrocarbons, and cryogenic fluids.
3. Applications include compressors, pumps, valves, chemical instrumentation, and various gauges.
The material is produced by chemically treating high-carbon flake graphite, followed by high-temperature expansion and rolling. It serves as the foundational material for manufacturing a wide variety of graphite sealing components.
