Three key points in the installation process of rubber seals
Seals can be divided into two categories: static seals between relatively static joints and dynamic seals between relatively moving joints. There are three main types of static seals: seals, rubber seals and contact seals.
According to the working pressure, the static seal can be divided into medium and low pressure static seal and high pressure static seal. Medium and low pressure static seals are commonly used for gaskets with softer materials and wider gaskets, while high-pressure static seals use harder materials and metal gaskets with a narrow contact width. Dynamic seals can be divided into two basic types: rotary seals and reciprocating seals. According to whether the seal is in contact with the relative moving parts, it can be divided into contact seal and non-contact seal.
Generally speaking, contact seals have good sealing performance, but are limited by friction and wear, so they are suitable for occasions where the linear speed of the sealing surface is low. Non-contact seals have poor sealing performance and are suitable for higher speed applications.
Three key points in the installation process of rubber seals：
1. Avoid damaging the sealing surface or sealing line on the surface of the seal. The sealing performance of the flat seal depends on the upper and lower end faces; special protection and care should be given during handling, installation, and storage. Once damaged, the sealing part will often be damaged. Leaving a lot of hidden dangers.
2. Do not install by force. Some seals are placed in a groove-shaped stuffing box. At this time, they need to be installed tightly. The construction should not be rough or brutal. Forced installation with a large movement will inevitably destroy the original prefabricated structure of the seal. It's like breaking up precast concrete and filling it where it needs to be, which is bound to lead to disaster. The installation of this type of seal must be very careful and careful, and the embedding must be carried out step by step.
3. Balance and symmetry should be paid attention to during installation, and the seal should be placed at a position that is just close to the effective sealing surface (or lip line).
